Speed up a slow KaiOS device

Speed up a slow KaiOS device

To download more apps and media, or help your phone run better, you can clear space on your phone.

Storage is where you keep data, like music and photos.

Memory is where you run programs, like apps and the KaiOS system.

To free up your storage you can:

  1. Remove photos (Open Gallery > Options > Delete)
  2. Remove downloaded movies, music & other media (Open Videos/Music > Choose file > Options > Delete)
  3. Remove apps & app data (Open Settings > Storage > Application Data > select “Store”>Clean)
  4. Delete or move other files

Depending on your phone model, it may be possible to increase your internal storage space with a memory card. Please check your device specifications to see what microSD card size your phone supports.

KaiOS manages the memory that apps use. You don’t usually need to close apps. But if an app isn’t responding, try closing the app. Learn how to troubleshoot apps that aren’t working.

Tip: If you think an app is using too much memory, you can delete the app. Learn how to uninstall apps.

Can’t view, open, or update the KaiStore

If you can’t view, open, or update the KaiStore, it could be because:

  • Your SIM card is not valid or is inserted incorrectly
  • Your network connection is unstable
  • Your KaiOS software version is out of date

To fix this, try:

  1. Removing your SIM card and reinserting it, then trying to access the KaiStore again
  2. Connecting to a stable network
  3. Going to Settings > Device > Device Information > Software.

If your KaiOS version is older than 2.5.1, go to Software Update to get the latest version. If no updates are available, try enabling, then disabling Airplane mode and then checking for updates.
